Row over German flooring adhesive ecolabel

Germany's environment agency has rejected claims that a new ecolabel for flooring adhesives developed under the Blue Angel scheme was awarded incorrectly. Adhesives industry figures had pointed out that ecolabelled products made by a firm called Wulff contained alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs), chemicals disallowed under the label's award criteria. The agency stressed that the criteria had in fact been respected, adding that APE impurities in Wulff products were very small "and thus harmless".
