More delays for EU environmental strategies
EU thematic strategies on waste recycling, sustainable resource use and soil protection that were due out on 30 November have been postponed again, it has emerged. The European commission is blaming translation delays due to a strike rather than political divisions over the strategies' content, newspaper European Voice reported on Friday. The waste and resources strategies are now due for release on 21 December, the commission said on Friday. The soil strategy still requires approval from commission departments and won't appear before the new year.
