EU air quality revision talks to resume
EU debate on an overhaul of the bloc's air quality framework legislation is set to resume soon as the council of ministers prepares to publish the final version of a governmental agreement reached last year (EED 24/10/06). The text was circulated last week and will be confirmed by ministers later this month. It consolidates existing pollutant concentration limits, adds a limit for fine particulates (PM2.5), and introduces compliance flexibility for governments. Unusually, the council took a greener line than MEPs at first reading (EED 26/09/06). See air quality directive common position.
