European court overturns paraquat authorisation
The European court of justice has overturned a 2003 EU decision to approve the herbicide paraquat for use throughout the bloc. The court ruled in favour of Sweden in a case brought against the European commission shortly after the approval. It said the substance could pose a risk to human health.
