German conservatives "back nuclear exit delay"
German conservative parties (CDU and CSU) will campaign for an extension to the 2022 deadline for phasing out nuclear power plants in next year's federal elections, according German news weekly Der Spiegel. The policy would breach an existing coalition agreement with the centre-left SPD party and risk inflaming popular opposition (EED 17/12/01).
