EU import duties on Chinese bulbs set to end
German lighting firm Osram has withdrawn a request for the European commission to consider extending duties on low-energy Chinese light bulbs, paving the way for their definitive expiry on 18 October. Earlier this year the company demanded a further extension of the duties (EED 18/07/08), which were renewed for twelve months last year (EED 15/10/07). But last week the firm conceded it had "not been able to secure a majority in Europe for the Osram position."
