UK creates energy and climate change ministry
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced the creation of a new ministry dealing with energy and climate change issues following a government reshuffle on Friday. Environment minister Hilary Benn remains in his post but he will be responsible for a slimmed down department after his climate portfolio was given to Ed Miliband. Mr Miliband will also be responsible for energy issues. EU trade commissioner Peter Mandelson joins the government as business minister. See ministerial appointments and government press release.
