EU chemical reporting obligations enter force
EU suppliers of products containing certain concentrations of chemicals identified as "very high concern" substances (SVHCs) are now required to provide information about products' toxicity when requested by consumers. The obligation entered force on 28 October as the European chemicals agency (Echa) published a list of 15 SVHCs approved by a committee of member states earlier this month (EED 09/10/08). Another requirement on manufacturers and importers to notify Echa when their products contain SVHCs will apply from December 2011. See Echa press release and NGOs' reaction.
