German stimulus package gets green flavour

A €50bn economic stimulus package unveiled by Germany on Tuesday includes several green-tinged initiatives (EE 07/01/09). Owners of cars older than nine years will receive a €2,500 payment if they scrap them over the next year in favour of any newer model meeting at least Euro 4 emission standards. €1.5bn has been allocated for the scheme.
