EU backs UK Carbon Reduction Commitment scheme
A UK scheme to reduce carbon emissions from large energy users not covered by the EU's emissions trading scheme was approved by the European Commission on Tuesday. Organisations such as supermarkets and schools will have to buy carbon allowances.
