Revised EU packaging waste rules in force
A directive requiring EU states to recover and recycle a greater proportion of packaging waste by 31 December 2008 was published in the bloc's official journal on 18 February, triggering immediate entry into force. Governments have until 18 August 2005 to transpose the rules, which were finalised last December (EED 05/12/03).
