Firms attack "confused" British waste policy
UK manufacturing industry association EEF has attacked national waste policies as "confused, fragmented" and lacking strategic vision. Reforms are needed urgently to avoid "embarrassing policy clashes" and to help industry meeting challenging targets for reducing landfill, it said on Monday. The association's intervention precedes a government review of waste strategy due this year. It called for a new strategic advisory panel to overcome a current "failure" to cope with legislative obligations, and action to target landfill tax revenues on improving waste management infrastructure.
