Agency urges early action on PBT chemical
The Anglo-Welsh environment agency has called on industry to clarify possible risks to the environment from TDM, an intermediate chemical used in the production of certain rubbers, plastics, consumer goods and toys. TDM (or Tert-dodecanethiol) is provisionally included on an EU priority list of persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) chemicals. The agency based its call on a new assessment indicating potential environmental risks stemming from emulsion polymerisation uses of the chemical. See press release.
