Scientists called in on nanotechnology risks
The European Commission has asked the EU's chief environmental toxicology committee, Scher, to advise on how the bloc should assess potential risks of nanotechnologies. Earlier scientific assessments have suggested that adverse effects of nanoparticles cannot be predicted from current chemical models, the Commission says (EED 04/08/04). The committee has been requested to give its views by this autumn regarding potential risks to health, consumer safety and the environment.
