State of UK marine environment assessed
Britain's environment ministry has published a detailed assessment of the state of the marine environment across the entire UK continental shelf. It promised the report three years ago (EED 02/05/04). The assessment highlights climate change and over-fishing as key challeges and proposes several initiatives to improve scientific understanding. The ministry described the overall picture to emerge from the assessment as "mixed".
