Lepeltier outlines industrial risk priorities
French environment minister Serge Lepeltier outlined his priorities for actions to address industrial risks in 2005 in a speech on Monday. Among them were further steps to ensure safety at major hazard "Seveso" installations, to include preparation of plans to reduce risks in communities around 419 such sites. A campaign that has exposed poor safety and environmental management at transport filling stations is to continue. Mr Lepeltier said he also attached high importance to a programme aimed at cutting industrial emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). See speech.
