Report on emerging air pollution controls out

The European Commission has published on its website the results of a major independent investigation of emerging technologies for industrial air pollution control. Together, selected technologies could have "a considerable impact" on emissions of NOx, SOx, VOCs and PM2.5 particles to 2020, it concludes, "in some countries more than a 5% reduction". The investigation was launched under the clean air for Europe (Cafe) programme, which will culminate in a new European air quality strategy this year (EED 23/02/05). See Cafe pages, emerging technologies page, and the study.
