Small firms press again for Emas rewards
European small business association Ueapme has renewed its campaign for the EU Emas environmental management standard to be made more SME-friendly. Following a conference in London the association highlighted as among its top priorities: regulatory relief measures such as fast-track permitting procedures, greater use of tax breaks, and the possibility of staged implementation linked to progressive reduction in insurance premiums. Ueapme's demands are longstanding (EED 04/02/04). The European Commission is currently reviewing Emas in preparation for a revision due by next year. See press release.
