Consumer group challenges air freshener ruling
EU consumer association Beuc has appealed against a court decision ordering it to withdraw claims that household air freshener emissions could pose health risks. The order was made by a Dutch court last month following a complaint by home products firm Sara Lee/DE, which said the allegation was unsubstantiated and had hit sales (EED 08/03/05). In a statement on Friday Beuc said it stood by its claims and "would prefer another way" of resolving the dispute - such as through independent third party tests of the products. The appeal hearing might not take place for at least a year, it predicted. See press release.
