UK groups lobby for more energy from waste
Up to 17% of UK electricity could be generated by burning waste, two interest groups estimated in a report published on Thursday. The Institution of civil engineers and Renewable power association called on the government to give more support to the technology. More waste incineration would help divert biodegradable waste from landfills, boost renewable energy and improve UK energy security, the groups said.
