EU teak chair product policy study online
The EU's integrated product policy (IPP) for greener products has advanced a small step with release of a draft study on life-cycle environmental impacts of teak garden chairs. The products are the focus of one of two pilot projects being run to demonstrate IPP's potential (EED 24/01/05). The draft, by consultancy ERM, is open for stakeholder comments to 15 May, after which it will be finalised. The Commission has posted alongside it a dossier on wood purchasing by the project sponsor, French retailer Carrefour. See IPP pilot projects.
