Huge wind project to fill Barsebäck gap

Energy formerly supplied by the remaining operational reactor at Sweden's Barsebäck nuclear power station, which finally shut down on Tuesday after years of on-again off-again debate, is to be replaced by a giant SKr8bn (€875m) offshore wind turbine park east of Copenhagen, according to Danish media reports. Swedish energy giant Vattenfall confirmed it had plans to build "the largest wind farm in northern Europe" following a series of major acquisitions by the company in Sweden and Denmark. See Jyllands-Posten newspaper article and Vattenfall press release (both in English).
