Polish warning on EU road assessment rules
Poland's general directorate of expressways and motorways has warned of disruption and high costs from new project environmental impact assessment (EIA) rules. The rules are in a new national environmental protection law and implement EU EIA legislation. According to the directorate, they will force road investments to be reviewed or rethought. Poland "will lose at least PZ200m [€49m] only because of the obligation to re-work the same investment projects again", said Janusz Piechocinski, chairman of the parliamentary infrastructure committee, as quoted by newspaper Zycie Warszawy.
