UK urged to mind the gap on carbon emissions
The UK government can show real leadership on climate change only by taking urgent action to cut domestic emissions, an advisory body said on Wednesday. The sustainable development commission (SDC) warned that with so much focus on international negotiations, the UK's own "massive gap" in achievement could be neglected. It called for new car, road and air travel charges. Its statement comes a week after the government postponed a review of its national climate change programme.
