Call for more environment/health research
Advisors to the French government have called for more and more stable funding for research into environment and health issues. In an opinion published on Friday, the committee on prevention and precaution urged long-term public funding to replace the current reliance on short-term contracts. It called for administrative and regulatory constraints to be removed and for interdisciplinary approaches to be pursued. Last year both France (EED 13/02/04) and the EU (EED 10/06/04) launched environment and health action plans. See opinion.
