UK firms get green reporting guidance
The UK government has published for consultation a list of 25 environmental key performance indicators (KPIs) against which it says companies should consider reporting. The guidelines help flesh out a new legal requirement on listed firms to report regularly on relevant environmental issues (EED 11/05/05). Most companies should have to report against five or fewer of the indicators, the government stressed. The consultation paper identifies significant direct and indirect environmental impacts of over 50 business sectors. See press release.
