EU mulls framework for fisheries ecolabels
The European Commission on Wednesday proposed setting EU minimum requirements for voluntary ecolabelling of fisheries products. Public interest is increasing, but existing voluntary schemes have been controversial and it can be difficult to judge their reliability, it said in a communication. It advised against the EU creating its own official ecolabelling scheme, but also rejected maintaining the status quo.
