EU citizens "strongly back renewable energy"
Citizens of six EU countries believe that investing in renewable energy is the most important thing governments should do to address environmental issues, according to a poll. "Reducing pollution" came second. Market information firm TNS carried out the survey in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK. A majority of respondents backed tough international legislation to curb pollution, a result very much in line with the EU's most recent environmental polling (EED 02/05/05). Some 70% believed serious action would be taken only after a man-made global environmental catastrophe. See TNS.
