Legal challenges over biofuels, airport noise
The European Commission has sent final legal warnings to nine member states for failure to transpose or report on implementation of the EU biofuels directive. It sent first warnings to the nine earlier this year (EED 17/03/05). In addition, seven member states have been sent first warnings challenging them to explain why they have set a biofuels market share target well below the directive's 2% reference value. Meanwhile, Estonia, Latvia and Malta have been sent final warnings for failure to transpose the EU airport noise directive. See press releases on biofuels and noise.
