Norwegians 'winning on waste'

Norway last year collected 390,000 tonnes of packaging waste, or 85% of all such waste generated in the country, the pollution control authority (SFT) reported on Tuesday. Although material recycling rates for several fractions are still falling short of targets agreed with the private sector in 2003 (EED 25/03/03), the agency said overall recovery targets - including energy recovery - were being met. "We are well on the way to reaching the national goal of 80% recycling of all waste in Norway", SFT director general Håvard Holm added. See SFT press release.
