Experts discuss Reach and animal testing
The EU's Reach chemicals policy was on the agenda at the fifth international congress on alternatives to animal experimentation held in Berlin last week. Opening the congress, German consumer protection minister Renate Künast accepted that levels of animal experiments remained too high. Uwe Lahl, director general of Germany's environment ministry, presented a strategy on minimising animal tests under Reach, a copy of which the ministry has posted on its website.
