EU Kyoto linking law worries power firms
Europe's electricity industry has warned that elements of the EU's "Kyoto linking" directive are "contradictory" and insisted on harmonised implementation by member states. The directive links the EU's emission trading scheme with the Kyoto protocol's project-based mechanisms, the JI and CDM (EED 16/11/04). Sector association Eurelectric warned of potential confusion between regulatory regimes and said it opposed any restrictions on types of projects considered eligible. See press release.
