Dimas rejects attacks on green rule making
EU environment commissioner Stavros Dimas has insisted that intelligent environmental regulation is a vehicle for long-term economic competitiveness, not an alternative. In a speech in Brussels on Thursday, Mr Dimas dismissed what he called three myths that environmental rules force industries out of the EU or destroy jobs or diminish competitiveness. Calls for less spending on environmental protection ignore the costs of not taking action, he said.
