Firms angry at shift to "arbitrary" f-gas bans
Manufacturers of fluorinated greenhouse gases have strongly criticised the European parliament environment committee's call on Tuesday for more wide-ranging bans on the chemicals in a draft EU regulation (EED 11/10/05). Trade group EFCTC called the shift "arbitrary" and insisted that bans would be "almost impossible to implement and... certainly counterproductive". The committee's position ignores energy efficiency, technological development and containment, it went on. EFCTC urged the full parliament to shift the legislation's focus back to containment, as agreed by EU governments. See EFCTC and press release.
