UK parties "must work together on climate"
Britain's two main opposition parties have called for a tripartite agreement with the government on how best to tackle climate change. The UK should develop a "new approach... based on cross-party consensus" to "one of the biggest problems facing mankind", they said. The governing Labour party was unenthusiastic, warning against "consensus on the wrong package for its own sake". Both the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties strongly criticised government "failure" on climate change policy during a parliamentary debate on Wednesday. See press release.
