Portugal to launch emission trading registry
Portugal's registry for the EU industrial carbon emission trading scheme will be activated within the next few days enabling companies to begin operating their emissions accounts, according to environment ministry sources. The ministry's environment institute, which is responsible for administering the register, calculates that the accounts of around 50% of the 205 companies in Portugal covered by the emissions trading scheme will be open by the end of this month. Portugal's is the 16th national registry to go live under the scheme. Instituto do Ambiente.
