What to look out for this month
EU business gets going again in earnest in September following the traditional summer break. The month kicks off with a plenary session of the European parliament on 1 September, to be held in Brussels following the partial collapse of the hemicycle ceiling in Strasbourg in August.
This month also marks the 20th anniversary of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The panel meets in Geneva for its 29th session from 31 August to 4 September.
Clean transport will be a key theme at the European mobility week taking place on 16 to 22 September. Green topics will also feature at the European transport forum in Brussels on 18 September. Budapest hosts an international conference on aviation and climate change from 8 September.
