Czech "will not meet sewage treatment standards"

Around a quarter of Czech towns including Prague will not meet EU standards for sewage treatment by the end of 2010, according to the Czech trade association for the water and sewage sector. The warning was made by chairman Frantisek Barak at a conference in Liberec last week. This is due to insufficient investments in treatment facilities, Mr Barak told ENDS. According to a news report in Prague Daily Monitor newspaper, the government insists it is providing sufficient funding to make sure the standards are met.
