"Mercury is dead", says Sweden

A near-total ban on mercury is to take effect in Sweden from 1 June, the government has decided. The move was signalled on Wednesday by environment minister Andreas Carlgren, who declared in an interview with national news agency TT that mercury was now "dead and buried".
