UK pledges €1.6bn in new low-carbon funding

British chancellor Alistair Darling announced several environmental commitments as he presented the UK's 2009 fiscal budget to parliament on Wednesday. The government will allocate a further £1.4bn (€1.6bn) in low-carbon initiatives over the next three years.
