ECJ confirms illegality of French MON810 ban

France was wrong to suspend cultivation of genetically modified (GM) maize MON 810 in 2008 by invoking a safeguard clause in the 2001 directive on the deliberate release of GMOs, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) has confirmed.
