Wallström presents climate programme results
EU environment commissioner Margot Wallström today opened a two-day stakeholder conference to present the results of the European Climate Change Programme and discuss implementation of the measures it proposes. The conference follows recent publication of a progress report on the programme which identifies eight steps to combat greenhouse gas emissions that could be taken quickly (EED 11/06/01). Plans for one of them, an EU carbon emissions trading scheme, were delayed last week (EED 29/06/01). See Ms Wallström's speech.
