Dutch state aids for transport CO2 approved
The European Commission announced on Tuesday that a series of grants planned by the Dutch government as part of a carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction programme for the transport sector are in line with EU state aid rules. The grants will total euros 36m (DF80m) and will be available until 2007. Schemes eligible for grants will include publicity campaigns to promote carpooling aimed at employers, training in fuel-saving techniques for heavy goods vehicles drivers and programmes to install engine speed-checking devices to encourage energy savings.
