Italy in trouble over EU waste infringements
A European court advisor has recommended that Italy be condemned for failure to implement EU waste laws. Endorsement of the opinion by the full court would be largely symbolic, however, as Italy has already largely rectified the legal breaches. In opinions on two cases, advocate-general Jean Mischo upheld European Commission complaints regarding firstly the granting of hazardous waste permits from 1975 and 1991 and secondly a failure to create waste disposal plans in some regions and a national packaging waste management plan.
