Sweden adopts EU exhaust legislation
The Swedish government today introduced a law on vehicle exhaust limits aimed at simplifying an existing environmental classification system and making it easier to update, in accordance with EU legislation. "To a great extent the EU has taken on board Swedish thinking as to what vehicle exhaust legislation should look like," said environment minister Kjell Larsson. The change also encourages the inclusion of heavy vehicles such as buses and lorries by increasing the number of environmental classes and allowing for tax incentives.
