Transatlantic green research accord signed
The EU and USA have agreed an environmental research cooperation protocol, focusing on climate change, marine science and environmental biology. Under the accord, signed on Tuesday, researchers will swap information and participate in each other's programmes. "More than any other area, environmental protection is a global issue where systematic cooperation and learning from each other's experience is highly desirable, if not indispensable, for sustainable development," commented EU research commissioner Philippe Busquin.
