Wallström mulls EU's climate challenge
Speaking at a climate conference in Brussels today, EU environment commissioner Margot Wallström pledged to bring the USA back into the Kyoto protocol as soon as possible. The commissioner focused her remarks on the major package of EU climate policy proposals released on Tuesday. The bottom line, she said, was that the EU could achieve its Kyoto target of an 8% cut in greenhouse gas emissions, and moreover at the relatively low cost of under euros 20 per tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent.
