Bright hopes for Swedish green exports
Environmental technology and services could become Sweden's "next major export industry," according to a first survey of the sector. The investigation was carried out by the Swedish trade council and a network of 500 consultancies and suppliers working in water and wastewater treatment, waste management and air pollution control. It estimates export revenues in 2000 at SKr8bn (euros 847m), or 1% of total national exports. Nordic and west European countries are currently the main export destinations.
