Swiss railway noise law to take effect
Under a law due to take effect on 15 December noise from Swiss railways will be cut over the next few years through a SFr 1.85bn (euros 1.26bn) programme of measures involving tracks and passenger and freight trains. Rolling stock will be updated, including fitting quieter brakes, erecting sound-proofing alongside railway lines and insulated windows of neighbouring buildings.
