EU transport-environment study announced
A computer model that predicts environmental outcomes from different EU transport policies is to be reassessed and possibly upgraded, the European Commission's environment directorate has announced. Tremove was first developed to support the EU's Auto/Oil research programme, which led to agreement of new laws on vehicle emissions and fuel quality from 1998. The directorate wants to substantially improve Tremove's ability to predict air quality and greenhouse gas emissions by expanding its geographical breadth and the number of pollutants covered. A final report will be published in February. See Tremove webpage.
